Choosing a Laboratory

Both JTS and other large multinational testing companies operating in Taiwan are accredited laboratories recognized by Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) — full accreditation lists and scopes are published on the TFDA website (http://www.fda.gov.tw/). Neither is a government laboratory; both are commercial, third-party testing laboratories. Any laboratory that meets the ISO/IEC 17025 international standard is qualified to undertake testing.
Be cautious of marketing claims such as "certified non-toxic by [a lab]," "certified food-safe by [a lab]," or similar phrasing — these are not accurate terms, and are not endorsed by the labs themselves.

Laboratory accreditation gives testing results real assurance. To become accredited, a laboratory must first perform testing in accordance with the ISO/IEC 17025 international standard, undergo on-site assessment by qualified assessors, and pass review by an expert committee — a rigorous, multi-stage process. Accredited laboratories are then subject to ongoing oversight, including scheduled and unannounced audits, and proficiency testing using blind samples of unknown composition, to continuously monitor and maintain testing quality. Laboratories that issue falsified or inaccurate reports, or fail proficiency testing, can have their accreditation suspended or revoked — which is why accredited laboratories offer far greater assurance.

Testing Scope

Step 1: You can start by reviewing the "Food Safety Standards" articles on our website — https://www.stst.com.tw/category/standards — to understand which standards your product needs to comply with.
Step 2: If it still feels unclear, that's completely normal — please contact us at +886-2-2698-1299. Our specialists will explain the requirements and recommend a testing plan that fits both the applicable regulations and your budget.
Testing Process

Step 1: Please contact us first to confirm the testing price, turnaround time, required sample weight and packaging method for your product, then complete and sign the application form and send it together with your samples.
You may use postal mail, courier (cold-chain services available) or express delivery. Shipping details:

Samples can also be dropped off in person, Monday–Friday, 9:00–12:00 / 13:30–17:00 (drop-offs after 15:00 will be processed the next business day).
Step 2: How do I fill out the application form?
Step 3: How long does testing take?
Standard turnaround is 7–10 working days (excluding holidays and the day samples arrive at the lab). For urgent or express requests, please confirm with us by phone before sending your samples.
Step 4: Report language
The first report language (Chinese or English) is free. A second language incurs an administrative fee of NT$350.
Step 5: Payment
Please complete payment before sending your samples, to avoid delays.

Step 6: Will I get a paper report? What about the invoice?
Test reports are provided as electronic files; a paper copy can be purchased as an add-on if needed.
JTS issues electronic (e-)invoices, sent together with the report file; you're welcome to print them if you need a paper copy.

Step 7: Can I cancel my testing request?
If you notify us to cancel the day after we confirm receipt of your samples, a pre-processing fee (half the testing fee) will apply. Please watch your email confirmations closely and contact us immediately if any information needs correcting.
Step 8: Can I request changes to a report I've already received (electronic or paper)?
Reports are issued based on the information in the application form. Corrections to an already-issued electronic report incur a NT$500 revision fee; changes that don't match the actual sample tested cannot be made.
